General DIY tips
Apart from the specific tips, we would also like to share some general DIY tips that apply to almost any job.
Write down what you’re planning to do
It sounds logical to write down properly what you're planning to do before you start. Yet it often goes wrong, particularly for the smaller jobs. We suffer from lack of time and dive straight in, causing us to miss things, we come up against problems later and they end up costing a lot of time. Therefore it is a good idea to write down what you plan to do, the steps it involves, the tools and materials you need, and the timeframe for the job. Write down the paint codes you used, the brushes and other products, so you can go back and replenish the same.
Keep the area clean and ensure proper ventilation
Particularly for paint jobs, it is important to remember to ventilate properly! The paint dries quicker, but it is better for your health too. Apart from ventilation, we recommend cleaning and tidying rooms all the time. If you do it regularly it costs less time and you prevent trips and falls that could delay the work even more.
Work safely and take your time
Make sure you have the right protection for the job, such as gloves or safety goggles. Do the job properly equipped and take your time. If you don't have the time, it is better not to start the job. Lack of attention or a rush job only mean that you pay less attention to safety, and an accident will happen.
